I suppose I owe my good friend Tommy a lot of thanks for kicking me in the pants about writing. His urging seems to have sparked something in me that was there all along. Maybe one of these days I’ll have the good sense to listen more closely.
So much has happened in the year since I stopped writing. It would take a battery of posts to cover it all, but here are the highlights in no particular order:
- Got married. Hands down, greatest thing ever.
- Got a new job. Enjoyable work, issues with management.
- Updated to WordPress 2.7. Interface is now clunky due to what appears to be a desire to make it look, “cool”.
- Bulleted lists should never contain punctuation. So much for that rule.
- My commercial airline nerdism has really began to expand past my other various nerdisms, as evidenced by my participation in FlyerTalk and associated travel to airplane nerd meets.
- Currently completely engrossed in Airline Mogul. Gaze upon my route map, ye mighty, and despair!
- My president is a black man whom I fear has become a tad messiah-ish to way too many people. I’m not calling for abject failure, but I’m not looking forward to my 2009 tax return.
- My FlightMemory is pathetic. Hopefully regular travel can continue after the wedding is paid off.
To say that I skipped over some stuff is a slight understatement. I think the best approach is to let that stuff flow out over the coming days and weeks, filling in the background where appropriate or otherwise needed.
What were formerly regular readers may recall that I’ve been blogging since 2002, before blogging was cool. I have eliminated all of those entries except two because I thought those two were one of the few times where I reached humor. The rest, especially those written during my college years, were mostly drivel and no one should be subjected to that stuff. Of course, the enterprising Internet detective should know where to locate most of it. This is where a ninja emoticon would go if I had one.
I find that I have enjoyed writing this evening. I hope that feeling sticks around for a while. We’ll see where it all goes.
